Ordering and Shipping
Orders placed by Wednesday will generally ship the following week. Orders placed after Wednesday will generally ship the week after the following week. Weather advisories or carrier interruptions along the shipping route may delay shipment. We may adjust the shipping schedule to help ensure your product arrives safely without unnecessary delay.
For example:
- An order placed on or before Wednesday will normally ship the next week, weather and carrier permitting.
- An order placed Thursday through Sunday will normally ship during the second week following the order date.
This schedule allows us to prepare, package, and ship frozen products safely while reducing the possibility of packages being delayed over a weekend.
Yes. Tracking information will be sent to the email address provided with your order once the shipping label has been created. Please monitor the shipment and make arrangements for someone to retrieve the package promptly after delivery.
A signature may not always be required, but someone should retrieve the package as soon as possible after delivery. Taylor Stevenson Ranch Meat Co. is not responsible for product deterioration caused by a package being left unattended after confirmed delivery.
Products are shipped frozen in insulated packaging with an appropriate cooling agent designed to keep the contents cold during transit. The amount of dry ice or other coolant remaining at delivery may vary depending on the destination, weather, and transit time.
Never touch dry ice with bare hands. Keep it away from children and pets, and allow any remaining dry ice to dissipate in a well-ventilated area.
Frozen Meat Storage
Open the package immediately and inspect the products. The meat should arrive frozen, partially frozen with visible ice crystals, or refrigerator-cold at 40°F or below. Immediately place the products in the freezer or refrigerator, depending on when you plan to use them.
According to the USDA, food that still contains ice crystals or measures 40°F or below may be safely refrozen, although some loss of quality may occur.
Some thawing during transit may occur and does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe. If the meat still contains ice crystals or is 40°F or below, it may be refrigerated for prompt use or safely refrozen.
If the meat arrives above 40°F, is warm to the touch, has an unusual odor, or appears unsafe, do not taste or consume it. Take photographs of the products, packaging, shipping label, and temperature reading, and contact Taylor Stevenson Ranch Meat Co. immediately with your order number. Do not rely on appearance or smell alone to determine whether meat is safe.
Continue monitoring the carrier’s tracking information. Once the package arrives, inspect the products immediately and check their temperature with a food thermometer. If the meat is frozen, contains ice crystals, or is 40°F or below, it may be safely frozen or used. Contact us promptly if the products arrive above 40°F or appear damaged.
Keep frozen meat in a freezer maintained at 0°F or below. Leave each product in its original sealed packaging until you are ready to thaw it. For the best quality:
- Store products in the coldest part of the freezer.
- Avoid repeatedly opening the freezer door.
- Do not puncture or damage the packaging.
- Label products with the purchase or delivery date.
- Use older products first.
Food continuously stored at 0°F or below remains safe indefinitely, but its flavor, texture, and overall quality may decline over time. For the best quality, frozen meat should generally be used within one year of the package date, provided it remains continuously frozen at 0°F or below.
These timeframes concern quality, not safety.Use this text to answer questions in as much detail as possible for your customers.
Freezer burn occurs when frozen food is exposed to air, causing dry, discolored areas. It may affect the meat’s flavor and texture, but it does not generally make the food unsafe. Properly sealed packaging and a consistent freezer temperature help prevent freezer burn.
The safest thawing methods are:
- In the refrigerator: Place the sealed package on a plate or tray to prevent drips and allow it to thaw gradually.
- In cold water: Keep the meat in a leak-proof package, submerge it in cold water, and replace the water every 30 minutes. Cook immediately after thawing.
- In the microwave: Use the defrost setting and cook the meat immediately afterward.
Do not thaw frozen meat on the counter, outdoors, or in hot water.
Meat thawed safely in the refrigerator may generally be refrozen without cooking, although its quality may decline. Meat thawed in cold water or the microwave should be cooked before being refrozen. Meat that still contains ice crystals or remains at 40°F or below may also be safely refrozen.
As a general rule:
- Raw steaks, chops, and roasts should be cooked within 3–5 days.
- Ground meat and raw sausage should be cooked within 1–2 days.
- Raw chicken should be cooked within 1–2 days.
Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below.
